Minutes from the Federal Reserve Committee meeting held on December 2018 reflects that the Committee shares similar viewpoints with Chairman Jerome Powell and other officials regarding rate hike. Analysis predicts that rate hike is unlikely to occur in March.

The Committee expresses an optimistic view on the US economy. However, with current frustrations in the financial market and decreased rate of global economic growth, rate fluctuations are likely to remain stable. Powell stated that market trends reflected a pessimistic outlook, notwithstanding significant economic growth last year. Therefore, the Federal Reserve should maintain a flexible perspective.

According to different source, a meeting between US President Donald Trump and Chairman Jerome Powell has not yet been scheduled. Powell further commented that The Chair of the Federal Reserve had always mainted a close working relationship with former US Presidents.
