The Seminar on corporate governance, co-organised by Moebius Asia and KPMG Advisory (Hong Kong), was successfully held on 14 March, 2019.

Lead by Ms. Claudia Yu, KPMG's Associate Director, Advisory and Risk Consulting, the seminar elaboraed on the amended Corporate Governance Code and related terms in the Listing Rules as a result of HKEX's consultations. Yu highlighted and explained a number of cautions listed companies should take when appointing new independent non-executive directors, including whether overboarding directors can fully act out their directorate responsibilties, whether directors meet the strengthened independence criteria, whether newly appointed directors add to the diversity of the board, and whether listed companies have considered a number of factors (for example, material benefits) when (re-)appointing independent directors.
