The Hong Kong Government endeavours to promote the development of Green Finance in Hong Kong through various initiatives, including the launch of a Green Bond Grant Scheme last year, and the plan to implement a Government green bond issuance programme to borrow sums of not exceeding HK$100 billion.  These initiatives would increase the depth of our bond market, making bond issuance an even more viable financing means for listed companies.  Nevertheless, our market regulators are likely to include additional green elements into corporate governance while investors’ demands for higher disclosure in green performances, not only those ESG aspects set out by the HKEX but also those related to climate change.   
In order to prepare our members and other listed companies to fully understand the characteristics of this green financing, as well as the additional disclosure responsibilities of issuers so that they can weigh the costs and benefits accordingly, the Chamber is very pleased to co-host this seminar with the Hong Kong Investment Funds Association.
